Empowership's home page uses eye-catching imagery, slick graphic design, and audience-specific copywriting to really capture visitors attention and let them know they've arrived at the right place. People who will recognize right away if Empowership is the right fit for them.
On their sales/features page they explain in detail what their program provides and the specific deliverables members receive. They do a good job of providing clarity without using too many words. They also provide a call-to-action at the bottom of the page so visitors can self select what type of customer they are.
After paying to become a member, people visit this navigation page which Empowership designed. They have a useful welcome video at the top explaining how their program works. They also use a nice mix of images, graphics, and fonts to allow easy member navigation to their various member only pages.
Here is one of the member pages they provide for their members. This page repurposes Squarespace's blog functionality so members can view various interviews (i.e. blog posts). Each interview contains a short text description and a streaming audio interview.
Empowership was born out of a single question, “What does it take for women to thrive at work?” Our co-founder, Chelsea Szabo via her company Verbal Courage, surveyed 250+ women in the advertising, marketing, media, PR and tech industries to discover what factors contribute to women thriving in the workplace.
The survey answers revealed women struggled in 5 core areas and we set out to create a solution to those core challenges in a program that was relevant, supportive and built a sense of community among women. Empowership was the answer.
Empowership is a comprehensive one-year learning, development & mentorship program designed exclusively for women. This program gives women within a company access to training and coaching 365 days a year without exhausting internal resources.
Our curriculum is anchored in research-based findings and improves overall work performance through developing inner & outer confidence, encouraging authenticity and using it as a powerful tool for success, sharing a new perspective on work/life balance, delivering techniques that squash guilt and stress, and focusing on owning responsibility and stepping into leadership.How does your business model work?
Our customers are primarily advertising, media, marketing, tech, PR, and others who are seeking to develop their female employees via training and mentorship. We sell memberships on a corporate level, always seeking to enroll 100% of their female population so no woman is left behind. Currently, we have 686 enrollments from 60 companies across 25 countries.How do you find and convince people to become members?
We do outreach to companies via email and phone, starting with those in our network and others we have found that are supporting a women's initiative or a diversity and inclusion program. In addition, word of mouth and referrals will help us drive enrollment for year two.How do you keep cancellations down?
Our program is a bit different, since companies enroll their women vs. individual enrollment. Our program runs June to June, so members have a year-long package. At the end of year one, companies will have the option to renew current members and add new members.
